One word... Yuck
The game is poorly balanced. It take me 10 try to find a good team then we win 15 games straight.
The reward is poor and why doesn't it give gamer points?

Costume brawl was fun, expecially when u and ur group last 9 consecutive wins, only to hyave 3 ppl disconnect 2 secs into the 10th round, the only down side was the constant 'Re-Loading' of every map i loaded each maps about 20 times over thats why i stopped playing

I've been getting gamer points for every win. Unless they've patched something recently I believe it is 7 per game won.

OMG I so agree!
My husband was telling someone that it was like RA and I said "Yes, except with mostly real skill bars!"
I agree the monk is -_-
The ranger is pretty standard for something that would be run in a pvp setting, altho I wish it had mending touch rather than the antidote sig Q_Q and of course the 13 expertise would have been nice. I was upset about that ONE extra point in Wilderness that does NOTHING!
But all in all the 700 faction just for winning plus the cap and kill faction are pretty nice.
~~~~~ My first round was excellent we went around capping and killing like mad and won it easily, then for some reason the next round the derv thought it more important to cap constantly by splitting up. Our poor monk couldn't heal anyone, we couldn't cap anything because the other team moved as a mob, and THEN the Derv who had decided that we should split like that yells at me as says RANGER GO KILL SOMETHING. So I stopped and waited for the mob to kill me that was blocking my only escape.
Then he says in local: Ya know, capping the shrines is not 100% effective.
Me: Neither is dividing your team and hanging your monk out to dry when the other team is moving as a mob.
He said nothing else XD
And THIS is why I avoid all forms of random teammate pvp.
wow um how did u come to this conclusion?
Ele's were def the strongets, followed by a mesmer(if they used there build right), then a dervish, then a ritualist,then a warrior, then a ranger, then a assassin, then a paragon, then finally the monk
the warrior was useful for shutting down other players with shield bash, only time i had trouble is when failing to shield bash the dervish's avatar skill, ele's were really overpowered, assassins were easy to PWN, the rangers were easily beaten if done right, mesmers were tricky(the good ones anyway), dont think the paragon was that strong either, Monk was definiatley not to good!!!!!!!!!!
oh yeah WHY the FFFFF did we not get Gamer points?
Prolly better for Rangers but notice that every class in CB uses it's own skillz
Well, you know, skill bar o monk in CB isn't supposed to make red bar go up. They're for... stuff, y'know, like kd-ing A/W/Ds
Skillbars in CB are supposed to be self-sufficient and they are somehow... Speed boost, cond removal, self-heal etc.
Um, no. I base this on my experience that I got fighting eles in CB. Most of them are pathetic, Gazing and Steaming me even tho' I wasn't burning. Ugh. Crappy self-heal, no cond-removal- no way in the hell Eles are the best in CB
Warriors end up getting shut down by either Cripple, Blind and/or Faintheartedness+Weakness.
They have absolutely no tools to deal with them. Unlike our good friends Dervish, Paragon, and Assassin.
2 Gripes:
- CB is not Dragon Arena
- Can't flag players when they don't understand when and how to split or just feel like taking on a whole Mo/Rit/R/D/W team by themself
Positives:
- Refreshing change, if only for an hour or so
- Gamer points
- Trick or treat bags to sell
Other thoughts:
Rangers aren't really balanced in CB. Even w/o mending touch and proper attributes, the bar is far better than the rest. It lets you make a clown out of everyone and take them out without much of a fighting chance. After eating enough d-shots ppl just rage quit and screw their teammates over. I had fun with all classes (save the rit, which I still have a major distaste for), but on ranger no class managed to win a scrim. War was a bit frustrating at times with no cndtn rmvl and mes/nec/sin made for some good laughs.
P.S. Where's Dragon Arena, Anet?
I'm in love with the 5v5 pvp aspect. I don't think we've ever truly had any 5v5 PvP games in GW until this. It's quite interesting I think.
I would love to have some sort of permanent 5v5 type PvP like this. It's a fun twist from the boring 4v4, and I bet a 5v5 RA or TA would be chaotically fun.
It would be worth it if the reward was better, and the skill bars are just to laugh at LOL, not sure if they fixed the glitch yet but that was the best part of the new game glitching behind the waterfall and the edge of the world.LOL
you were expecting the Dragon arena?? that is the dragon festival completly different.
You're basing your experience on bad use of a skill bar? Because a guy doesn't know how to use a skillbar doesn't mean this skillbar is crap.
Eles are very potent. They can only be countered by interrupts (and yet), counter any physical attackers on field, run like hell so they can escape really well, deals AoE, and are more and more deadly as they are numerous.
All in all CB is balanced with some slight advantages of certains team builds over others (Rits+melee are deadly, many eles too), too bad you can't choose your team.
The 12 Expertise might be by choice, to maintain some balance. It is already a good bar, as people mentioned.
The bars are not optimal at all, give the Monk LoD and it's over. So they all "suck" - but actually they are balanced to each other. They at least tried to, depending on your personal taste some builds are stronger, but given the horribly bad (!) judgements made here which class build sucks and which not, I will not engage in this debate.
But this looks like an oversight: Necros have 11 Soul Reaping and get a r12 Soul Spire as weapon. Good that I had my SR/BM staves with me.
No, they can't stop any physical attackers on field. They get wrecked by dervishes, rangers and assassins.
After playing a while I have to sadly say that the same things which kill RA kill Costume Brawl as well.
It is NOT fun to play 4v5 games.
It is NOT fun to play games where people can't even bring their own weapons and then complain "it didn't spawn for me".. like who cares, your fault.
It is NOT fun to play with people who never ever PvP except here. It's just not fun looking at chaotic team plowed. When you're in it. It's also not fun when your team can't find "T" button or doesn't know what it does. Nor do they look at minimap blinking. Or would even know what it means. Or would care.
It is NOT fun playing with all those low lvls who mainly go here because of fast XP or balth faction, and don't even care about battle.
It is NOT fun to play against synced teams while your full friends and guild lists are empty because none of your PvP friends play anymore.
It's not that Costume Brawl is a bad idea, it's nice. But after all the gameplay I have to say: I didn't have fun, aside of few rare moments.
Hrm. I was stuck with an assassin who started screaming 'omg leechers!' about two seconds after the rest of the team loaded into the game, then ran straight into battle. Bleh.
Otherwise, I think it's a nice way to stack up Balthazar Faction, depending on how good your team is. As much as quite a few people complain about the monk build, we did quite well with two of them. Shame some Dervish players forget to use Imbue Health on other players - I try my best to. :\
